Playing radio when I was a kid

Most people get this backwards: the stuff we do because we’re imitating or playing is what sticks with us later.

I grew up wiring cassette players, pretending I was on the radio. No script, just music and whatever I wanted to say between the songs.

That’s where the love started.. playing and sharing, not the perfect broadcast.

My kid’s doing the same thing now, but for YouTube. Same impulse, different gear.

Radio’s been good to me, but I don’t know what’s next for it. Hope he finds what it meant to me somewhere else.
