Reginald Dixon Last BBC Radio Light Prog Broadcast 26/09/1967

Reginald Dixon plays a BBC Light programme broadcast on the Tower Ballroom Wurlitzer Organ from Tuesday 26th September 1967. Just a few days later on the 30th September, the BBC Light Programme was renamed BBC Radio 2 in a big change to all BBC Radio. And the launch of the new Radio 1. This again was taken from a reel to reel recording made on a primitive Grundig mono 1960s tape recorder recording off a radio of that period so naturally, this is not up to our modern digital sound quality. But feel yet again this historic recording is well worth sharing on Youtube for its musical qualities and the history as well. Reginald Dixon in my view was one if not the all-time greatest theatre organists with his unique Blackpool style. Plus on this tape, it's lovely hearing him making his own announcements to the packed Blackpool Tower Ballroom crowd.
