The Beatles - And Your Bird Can Sing - Guitar Cover - Epiphone Casino

George and Paul's expertly crafted lead harmony guitar parts make this Revolver song a must know for Beatles guitarists. The higher harmony part slurs more notes through slides and bends than the lower part, which plays every note in the riff individually. The resulting sound is very unique in that one can hear the clarity of the individual notes blend with the smoothness of a legato guitar. Notice at 0:20, the higher part plays two G# notes, one being bent on the B string and the other fretted on the high E. During the first guitar solo after the bridge, the higher part slides from the D# to the E note (0:56), while in the last guitar solo both notes are individually picked (1:44). Many online sources play the harmony part at 0:41 incorrectly, while I present it the way the Beatles played it, following the same form as the previous 3 licks by keeping the starting notes the same.

John played his rhythm part on the Epiphone Casino with a capo at the second fret. He mostly keeps to playing on the beats, but mixes up his strumming part during the last verse. It sounds to me that his guitar track was treated with ADT (artificial double tracking) due to the "phasey" sound that is especially noticeable during the last verse. I emulated this with Waves Reel ADT. All of the guitars on the original track would have been played through a Vox UL series amplifier, which has a very distinctive distortion and attack sound that is difficult to recreate without the use of one.
