Laser Cutting Thermal Simulation (S-pattern)

This animation visualizes the thermal evolution of laser cutting on a thin plate using a continuous S-pattern toolpath. The simulation utilizes element-removal technique, motivated by Fu et al., 2015 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jmapro.2015.06.005).

Significant heat accumulation is noticed between the passes with a smaller hatch spacing. Such simulations help understand the thermal process and phase formation (for instance martensite) in the heat affected zone.
