Skoda Yeti Range Review and Road Test | LeasePlan Go
The Yeti has been a major success for the Czech brand. Even Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson raves about this car.
The nip and tuck treatment includes interior tweaks and new technology, while the maker has split the car into two models – the Yeti and the Yeti Outdoor.
The Yeti Outdoor offers a rugged 4x4 look, thanks to contrasting body bumpers, plastic wheel arches and underbody protection. And it is available in two- and four-wheel-drive modes.
The engine line-up consists of two petrol and four diesel powerplants. The biggest seller will be the 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel. It will reach 62mph in just 9.9 seconds and has a top speed of 118mph. There’s also a lower-powered 109bhp 2.0-litre diesel unit, while the 1.6-litre petrol producing 104bhp Greenline is the most efficient in the range. It averages 61.4mpg emits 119g/km of CO2 emissions.
Another highlight is the 1.2-litre 104bhp TSI petrol engine, ranking up 62mph in 11.4 seconds (11.8 for Yeti Outdoor) and a maximum speed of 109mph.
The range features five- and six-speed manual gearboxes as well as a seven-speed automatic DSG on the 1.2 TSI model, and a six-speed DSG on 2.0 TDI units.
On the road the Yeti has a great level of driving dynamics. It has loads of grip, its engaging to drive while the light-ish steering suits those wanting to use this car in and around town.
On the inside the Yeti has a classic VW Group-quality about it. The facelifted model adds the three-spoke multi-function leather steering wheel while new fabrics and seat options are also available.
Practicality is good. The Yeti has a load space of 416 litres with the seats in place and this expands to 1,580 litres by folding the seats down.
Four trim levels, S, SE, Elegance and Laurin & Klement are available, with the latter only available on the Yeti Outdoor. Entry-level equipment includes air con, alloy wheels and Bluetooth.
The mid-range SE model adds dual-zone air con, 17-inch alloys and rear parking sensors, while Elegance adds bi-xenon headlamps, full leather upholstery, heated front seats and Hill hold control.
The range-topping Laurin & Klement trim offers LED rear lights, satnav, DAB radio, panoramic sunroof and park assist.
A rear view parking camera as well as its latest generation park assist is also offered in the Yeti range. The Yeti is a cracking little car that offers excellent value-for-money - you should certainly Czech this out?
