Fun in the Dark
Mary, Hannah and Peter are playing.
They are racing cars around the house.
Outside the window, it’s raining hard.
When oh no! All the house lights go out!

Hannah and Peter think the dark is cool,
but what about little sister Mary.
Mary does not think the dark is cool,
she thinks the dark is very scary.

Mommy and daddy come running in.
It looks like rain made the lights go out!
But here kids, look at what they found,
flashlights for everyone in the house.

The darkness can bring us lots of fun.
Turn on your flashlight and shine it bright!
The darkness can bring us lots of fun.
Like watching the stars sparkle in the night.

They can be like fireflies on a hunt.
Looking for yummies over here and there.
Hannah finds peanut butter on a shelf.
Peter finds crackers and Mary finds pears.

But the very best thing they can do,
is play a fun game for one and all.
Use their flashlights with their hands and toys.
Make shadow puppets dance on the wall.

Oh wow, all the house lights came back on,
but they were having fun in the dark house.
Mary thinks of a great thing to do.
Mary flips the switch and the lights go out.

The darkness can bring us lots of fun.
