5.11 Manual of PCI - How to exchange catheters over a 300 cm long supportive 0.014 inch guidewire

When there is a need to exchange a catheter without losing access to the target vessel, a supportive 300 cm long 0.014 inch guidewire (such as Grand Slam, IronMan, Mailman, Wiggle) can be advanced into the target vessel, followed by removal of the current catheter and insertion of the new catheter.
