Codex Wiped the Floor with Google and Anthropic!!

Codex Wiped the Floor with Gemini and Claude | 2 Apps in 1 Weekend

I shipped two apps to the Apple App Store in one weekend. No co-founder. No dev team. Just me, my subject matter experts, and an AI coding agent.

This is my honest, no-spin breakdown of what happened when I tried the same build-and-publish workflow with OpenAI Codex, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude.

The first app was PetMatch Local, a pet recommendation app that helps people match with the right dog, cat, or rabbit based on lifestyle, home type, temperament, allergies, budget, and care preferences. It then connects users with nearby no-kill shelters, breeders, contact info, and map directions.

The second app was Strike Scout, a bowling ball recommendation app built with input from my parents, who are serious bowlers and subject matter experts. The app matches bowlers with the right ball based on speed, lane conditions, oil amount, oil pattern length, brand preference, coverstock, surface finish, age group, and budget.

Codex did not just write code. It helped refine the product ideas, expose blind spots, update the UI, tune scoring engines, run live walkthroughs, control the browser, help with App Store Connect, configure Xcode, and get the apps submitted.

Gemini left me acting as the integration layer. Claude is still useful, especially for writing, but struggled with sustained multi-step build work. Codex was the difference between talking about building and actually shipping.

This is not a benchmark. This is not a vendor deck. This is real build friction, real publishing workflow, and real outcomes.

In this video, I break down:

How Codex helped me ship two real App Store apps
Where Google Gemini fell short in a hands-on workflow
Where Claude struggled with longer multi-step work
Why browser control and local machine interaction changed everything
Why builders, operators, and tinkerers should be testing AI coding agents now
