Highly modern LED lighting for the Sistine Chapel

The decision to change the lighting system arose from the need to fully express the true value and meaning of the worldwide known art work in the chapel.
A project such as the lighting of the Sistine Chapel involves two - often contradictory - aspects: On the one hand the ideal lighting for the enjoyment of the paintings is needed, on the other hand lighting must not be invasive nor cause conservation problems. The lighting of the Sistine Chapel is a pilot project with the working title of LED4Art, supported by the European Funding Program for Information and Communication Technology within the Framework Program for Competitiveness and Innovation (PSP-CIP).
