Good Vibes Off the Tourist Track in Bydgoszcz, Poland

Bydgoszcz is not a city on the usual tourist circuit of Poland, which adds to its surprising charms. You feel like you've found the 'real' Poland and it's thoroughly lovely. Bydgoszcz has a long and interesting history, beautiful architecture, a focus on arts and culture, and a growing food scene. It's also the home of the Museum of Soap and History of Dirt where you can get the down and dirty on hygiene through the ages and try making your own soap. It's also where you find the original Cukierna Sowa, a popular chain across Poland full of delicious chocolates and sweet treats. Don't miss trying some local wine, taking a river cruise, and chilling out at Mill Island near the Old Town.
