Making a welding chipping hammer - Beginner welding project

One of the recent skills that I learned is welding so in order to do some practice and have better tools for the next projects, I decided to make welders chipping hammer. The materials of choice are two pieces of rebar and a broken handle from another hammer.

The entire project was done in just a couple of hours where a great deal of time spent just cleaning up the rust from the rebar and preparing the hammerhead.

The chipping hammer has one pointy side and one flat side so it can be used in different places for different types of welds to clean up the slug that is accumulated. The welding hammer is not hardened as I do not have a way to heat it up properly, but that should not be an issue since it will not be used with great force anyway.

If you are new at welding, or you don't have this awesome tool in your arsenal, then be sure to make one for yourself as it is really helpful.
