I often get asked when presenting a Northstar Canoe about my thoughts on some of the Wenonah Solo Canoes out there. First off, I love the folks at Wenonah Canoes and with my daughter being born in Winona and my family living just 20 miles upriver on the Mississippi, I can’t help but wish the best for their company. Secondly, their canoes are so very different than Northstar’s and so are the paddlers that pursue them in most cases. So, it’s all Good! Let’s make the solo canoe pie bigger!!!

I’m a Northstar Canoe paddler and fanatic but we need more companies preaching the beauty of the path of the canoe paddle and Wenonah has been doing just this for over 50 years.
This new Solo from them will definitely find a place in the market. They are making a push for fishing on this model. With the aluminum trim with mounting slots it will be easy to outfit for just this purpose.

I used a brand new to market Bending Branches Black Pearl Straight canoe paddle. Super excited about this for its razor sharp knifelike in-water return. The grip felt great and the blade seems a perfect size for freestyle and just general paddling.
