My R || Sanders Sides Animatic

hello again, it's ya boi amelie here to bring you another animatic!

to be honest, i was hesitant to start another because i started this the week before my break ended. plus, i didn't really know what i wanted to do--i was actually conflicted whether to do a musical animatic or some other sanders sides animatic. i turned to my youtube and there i see my r being recommended to me for the hundredth time and i got an idea for it. i absolutely love my r and would never stop listening to it so i decided to make an animatic for it with a little twist for sanders sides. (also, this has like, 100-150 more frames than my left brain right brain animatic so its safe to say im fuckin tired and i wanna go to bed.)

here's a little explanation i kinda thought off for this video:

like i said in the beginning, there is a balcony near what i imagine is the mindscape that has some sort of portal to go to the dark sides. sometimes, when a side feels down and has some troublesome thoughts, they'd go there and think about jumping or not. logan here kind of had the thought of jumping for a long time just because he realized that the dark sides somehow give a bigger impact on thomas and he wishes to do the same as well since the sides kinda started treating him badly. plus, he doubts his worth as a side in general but he blames his wanting to jump on the first reason because logic isn't supposed to have emotions, right?

for patton, he was reminiscing about the breakup and logan was kinda pissed that patton was just sad over some 'dumb' breakup. secretly, logan probably feels awful about the breakup too, hence why he throws the playbill out the balcony. patton is kinda nice here because he is patton and doesn't get mad at logan. it's just that logan doesn't understand his emotions and patton has to help him understand. (i also think logan is upset because he thinks 'why should patton get sad about not being wanted when he is the most loved in the family and logan is not?' but he just doesn't want to admit that.)

with roman, i used the puppet just because to me, it represents roman's facade when he feels hurt over something? i saw a tumblr post which talked about roman masking his feelings with a puppet in the lntao video and i wanted to apply it in the video somehow. roman and logan sort of have the same issues with self-confidence and self-esteem which makes logan upset. logan's upset because he also understands roman's insecurities but again, he gains more support than logan when it comes to problems so why should logan pity him? i also think the "hungry" part could refer to both of them and their issues with self-confidence because the two would literally sacrifice anything for thomas even if it means it will hurt them.

virgil's part is a bit different. logan and virgil kind of feel okay with one another, it's just that at this point, logan's unemotional facade is breaking and virgil is the one who really broke him through that mask. when logan saw virgil looking at the dark sides, it kind of does something to him because he realizes that the possibility of virgil jumping back in might actually happen compared to roman and patton. logan doesn't want him to go away and panics because of that but virgil is sort of confused because he really isn't going to jump. virgil likes to go to the balcony because he just likes to ponder a lot there--he would think about the dark sides and would always remind himself to never jump back in there. so he kinda feels bad for making logan get all panicky. the "scars that grow" referred to in the song can talk about virgil getting scars (maybe literally or figuratively) because of his constant visits from the dark sides in his room which can be called 'home'. And so, in the balcony, the dark sides would never go there because it only serves as a passageway for the light sides to go there, not the other way around. so that's why virgil mentions "that's why i stay up here instead".

then at the end, i think it is pretty self-explanatory.

i wanna thank the other people who made my r animatics for inspiring me and inspiring some frames in this animatic when i don't know what to put, all the writers, artists, and tumblr blogs who provide logan angst for me to feed on which inspired me to make logan the main character for this video, and to all my followers for sticking through my bullshit! i know this might not be as good as my first animatic but i hope you'll still like it! feel free to discuss more about this in the comments and i'll try to reply to them whenever i can.
