Five IAF Personnel Killed As AN-32 Aircraft Crashes During Landing At Jorhat Airbase In Assam

Five Indian Air Force personnel were killed on Saturday after an AN-32 cargo aircraft met with an accident while landing at the Rowriah airbase in Jorhat, Assam. The aircraft, belonging to 43 Squadron, crashed at around 10 am. The deceased were identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveervayu Danish Alam. The IAF sealed the entire Air Force station immediately after the incident and a court of inquiry has been constituted to determine the cause of the crash.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the fallen airmen, saying their courage and service to the nation would always be remembered with pride. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also offered condolences and said the state government was ready to extend all necessary support to the bereaved families.
