The Kingdom of Rome - The Legends and the Archaeological facts (Documentary)

The early period of Rome is an overlooked part of Roman history, often being overshadowed by the Republican and Imperial periods. This is, in part, because of the lack of sources regarding that timeline, which resulted in the mythicization of history. Nevertheless, as modern scholars have found out, these myths and legends were often loosely based on real events. In this video, we will examine both the literary history of that period (which was written hundreds of years after the kingdom was dissolved) and the archaeological findings that were excavated in the past century and in recent decades.

The studying of the early period of Rome is crucial in order for someone to understand the culture of the Romans, how they viewed their own past and, more generally, how the Roman civilization began.
