Norris Bomford's Stirling Engine boat at Beale Park Boat Show June 2014. Engine is a single cylinder beta type. Ring burner at upper end burning propane. Water pumped through a jacket for cooling. 22" (560mm) high, 7" (180mm) overall diameter. Bore 3.28" (83mm) diameter. Displacer and piston strokes are both 3.375" (86mm). 48 stainless steel heating tubes 5.5mm OD, 4.5mm ID, 4" (100mm) long clustered around the outside of the hot end. Groups of 4 of the tubes go to regenerator tubes 1" (25mm) ID, 3/4" (20mm) high filled with stainless steel wool. Power not measured, but probably around 100W. Propels the vintage skiff at about 3 or 4 mph.
