Can You Use a SIDE STANCE in Muay Thai & Kickboxing? | Kwonkicker & Cyrus Washington
TKD black belts Kwonkicker & Cyrus Washington (Taekwondo, Muay Thai & Lethwei Champ) demonstrate why the side stance (bladed stance) is vulnerable when used at close-range in any combat sports that allow leg kicks, sweeps, or high kicks.
The side stance is a mobile stance that is designed for fast linear movement, long range kicking techniques, or as a transitional stance at medium to close-range. Certain kicks also require the side stance in order to function effectively. The bladed stance is an invaluable tool for any ranged fighter, but it must be used under the proper circumstances so its vulnerabilities aren't exploited by an experienced opponent.
