The weirdest museum in the world?

This is the weirdest museum I’ve ever seen! ✂️

At the back of a pottery studio in Avanos, a quiet town in Turkey’s Cappadocia region, there’s a small staircase leading to a very unusual museum.

It was recognized by Guinness World Records in 1998 for having the largest collection of human hair in a museum - over 16,000 pieces.

The collection began with a single lock of hair in 1979 given to pottery master Galip Körükçü by his female pupil and gradually grew as visitors kept adding their own.

Decades later, thousands of locks of hair cover the walls, each with a note attached stating the names and countries of the owners. I had a pottery class with Galip and he did ask me to leave a lock of my hair, but I decided that I would like to keep it on my head.

It was certainly an unforgettable place, if not a little unsettling.
