Liz O'Riordan is a breast surgeon with breast cancer. Here she shares her insights from being on the other side of the table and how to collect
those little moments of joy.
Liz O'Riordan is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon in Ipswich, England. She has a PhD in Molecular Oncology, and her surgical training included a National Oncoplastic Fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London where she learned to reconstruct and reshape the breast and to improve cosmetic outcomes after cancer surgery. She is a member of the Women in Surgery committee at the Royal College of Surgeons, England, and was a keynote speaker at their 2016 national conference – “Confidence, Excellence and Feminism: not dirty words”. Outside of work, Liz is a triathlete, cyclist and loves baking. She is very active on social media, and was runner-up in the British Medical Association’s 2015 ‘Top Doctor on Social Media’ award. She uses Twitter to promote the role of women in surgery, educate people about breast cancer, and help plan her next sporting event.
