We four were chilling on the back porch, enjoying a cool afternoon. Suddenly, Julian, who has the sharpest eyes, spotted something in the corner of a flower pot.
"Hey, look! There's a millipede sleeping, curled up like a 'bakpia' (a type of Indonesian sweet pastry)," Julian exclaimed, pointing.
The three of us immediately moved closer. And it was true, a chubby, dark-colored millipede was sleeping soundly, perfectly curled into a circle. It was adorable to see, especially with its tiny, numerous legs.
Out of curiosity, the brave Andre slowly approached the millipede. His intention was just to get a closer look, maybe lightly poke it with a dry blade of grass. But before his finger even touched it, the millipede, which had seemed so deeply asleep, suddenly leapt up and sprinted away!
"Hey! Why are you running?!" Andre shouted, surprised but also amused.
The four of us burst into laughter. Turns out the millipede wasn't just sleeping; it was pretending to sleep! Maybe it had already smelled Andre's 'naughty' intentions, or perhaps it was already fed up with human drama. Whatever the reason, it successfully made our afternoon much brighter with its hilarious 'pretending to sleep then escaping' act!
