1938 Cadillac Sixty Special, Restored, Great for Touring and Shows!

This gorgeous 1938 Cadillac Sixty Special underwent a $90,000 restoration by Rods n Restos in 2019 and is part of a Cadillac collection in Alberta, Canada. This Sixty Special is often the favorite car on display at the local Alberta car shows and would be a welcomed addition to most Cadillac Collections.

The early ownership and history of this stunning Cadillac is mostly unknown until March 10, 1978 when it was acquired by Mr. Jim Phippen in Bowmanville, Ontario, CA with 39,400 miles. Mr. Chris Hatfield acquired the Sixty Special from Mr. Phippen on April 11, 1990 showing 45,277 miles. Jeannine Catt of Saint Thomas, Ontario acquired the Cadillac on July 24, 2008, and enjoyed it until Rose Olson acquired the Sixty Special in 2017 as a birthday gift for her husband Dennis. The Olson’s of Alberta, CA proceeded to restore the Cadillac to its current, beautiful condition and have decided it’s the time in their lives to begin liquidating their collection.

The owners of this rare and gorgeous Cadillac stated there are only 56 units built with the 1939 front clip with side mount spares on a 1938 body. The livery of this Sixty Special is rust-free and repainted in metallic gold during the recent restoration. This Sixty Special has beautiful shine and luster which shows very well overall. There are minor imperfections which are only noticeable upon close inspection. Most of the chrome shows well with minor pitting in some areas. A rare sun visor was added, and color matched to the new exterior paint. Trippe Safety Lights and auxiliary turn signals have also been added to the front grill and bumper area. The wide white wall tires are a nice complement to the metallic gold wheels, chrome wheel rings and center chrome wheel covers. The beautiful paint and the modern styling has made this 1938 Sixty Special a favorite in the Alberta area.

The interior seating and door panels have been reupholstered in black vinyl with black cloth inserts which work well with the black carpet. The upholstery and carpet show well throughout with little wear. The faux burl wood dash shows well and all the instruments, the radio and heater all function as designed, apart from the clock. There is minor pitting on some of the chrome areas on the gauges which is noticeable upon close inspection. The interior is comfortable and shows well overall.

The engine compartment is in nice condition with appropriate patina and shows well overall. The 346 ci L-Head V-8 motor produces 135 hp and runs smoothly and strongly. The power is transferred to the rear wheels through the column shift, 3-speed manual transmission. The transmission performs quietly, and is common with column shifters, the new owner will need to become accustom to the shifting idiosyncrasies.

This Sixty Special comes complete with a shop manual, numerous receipts, handwritten notes, and the 2019 restoration invoices. This Sixty Special is gorgeous and a joy to drive while receiving much attention in the Alberta area.

We have this Sixty Special priced well as a #2- to #3 condition. This reflects the 2019 restoration and its overall condition.
