Dog hadn't known kindness until he met this woman

He was one of 36 dogs in total that we found in a really gross abuse and neglect case. He was definitely one of the less resilient dogs and was just really sad and shut down. When we brought him home, it took a good two weeks for him to start acting normal. He smelled literally of infection. It was because his immune system was so bad. We got him on antibiotics

And we gave him a bunch of blankets and pillows and kept him downstairs in a bedroom, obviously going out for walks and slowly bonding with him. But we let him lead the way with his healing. When he first came to us, we would sit on the ground and he would crawl so deep into our lap almost like he wanted to just crawl inside of us and hide because he was so scared of any potential abuse that might occur. Finn still has a lot of issues with strangers, men in particular. But if you take it slow with him and work on his terms, he'll turn around and be your best friend.

He's a big happy clumsy clown these days who adores his two rescue sisters, Poe and Penny. He zoomies for about 20 minutes total a day, and then sleeps the rest of the day. I wasn't sure how bringing him home would unfold, but I was committed to making it work and it did. And over time with slow integration, it was one of the most magical relationships, I'd seen dogs develop with one another. They needed each other really bad. 

Dogs like Finn are very complicated and you really need to listen to their needs, but we have a bond together that's untouchable and so unique, and one that I can't even compare it to other relationships with dogs. I promise you, he lives the best life these days, and we will never, ever give up on him. He's become my best friend. And he's just the most tender soul I've ever met.
