Ahmedabad's DEMOLITION Drive 2025 EXPOSED!

On April 29, 2025, Ahmedabad witnessed its largest-ever demolition drive at Chandola Lake, where AMC and police cleared over 4,000 illegal structures-both permanent and temporary-built along the lakeside. The operation reclaimed nearly 1.5 lakh sq. meters of government land, targeting settlements mostly occupied by suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, especially in Siyasatnagar and Bengali Vaas. Days before the demolition, authorities detained over 6,500 suspected Bangladeshis, many lacking valid documents. Over 2,000 police officers and 50+ bulldozers ensured the peaceful removal of encroachments, which were linked to illegal activities like drug trafficking and fake documents. The Gujarat High Court upheld the demolition, rejecting petitions from residents and affirming the land as a protected water body. This historic operation was crucial for restoring public land, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding national security around Chandola Lake.
