In this short how-to video on improving online marketing in 2021, we show you how you can grant permissions to users for your Google Analytics account for your small business online marketing program and website.

Google Analytics is a free tool to help your small business understand your website’s traffic, perfect for boosting rankings for your digital marketing in 2021. You can access it here: http://analytics.google.com. Once you have an account and have linked it to your website, you may want to give someone access, such as a manager or SEO marketing company (such as Data Technology LLC in Dallas, TX).

Google Analytics (GA) may be a little confusing at first. To understand it better, let’s look first at the three hierarchy levels in your account:
- Account Level - This is the Highest Level - These include all websites you are tracking.
- Property Level - This is a single website, such as datatechnologyllc.com
- View Level - This is a section of a website, such as datatechnologyllc.com/blog

For your users, your Google Analytics account lets you grant different levels of access:
- Manage Users - This is the highest level of control, able to add and delete users, so don’t give this one out.
- Edit - These users can make changes to your GA account, including configuration settings. This is also a level you probably don’t want to give out.
- Collaborate - These users can create and share dashboards.
- Read & Analyze - These users can access and use data and also share dashboards, but can’t make any changes. This is the most common, and safest, level of access granted in GA.

So, to grant a user access to your GA account’s property level, follow these steps:

1. Log into GA
2. Go to ‘Admin’ (bottom, left) and go to ‘Property’ Level
3. Click on ‘Property User Management’
4. Click on ‘(+)’ sign.
5. Enter user’s email address and click ‘Add’. Check ‘Notify new users by email’ if you want.
6. Have user verify GA access on their end.

To manage users, change or remove access, go back to the ‘Property User Management’ page to edit access.
