The GMC V6 That Beat Ferraris — GMC LB4 Turbo Explained in 60 Seconds

In the early ’90s, GMC dropped the LB4 4.3L Turbocharged V6 into the Syclone and Typhoon, creating one of the wildest engines ever built. Rated at 280 horsepower with a turbo and intercooler, paired to AWD, it could sprint 0–60 in just 4.3 seconds.

That made it quicker than a Ferrari 348, and faster than Corvettes, Mustangs, and Camaros of its era.

Only around 3,000 Syclones and 4,700 Typhoons were made, making the LB4 Turbo V6 one of the most underrated and short-lived legends in automotive history.
