About the GuZheng instrument:

The guzheng is a traditional Chinese musical instrument that originated around 200 BCE. It is a plucked zither with movable bridges and 16 or more strings. The modern guzheng usually has 21 strings.

It is 64 inches (1.6 m; 5.3 ft) long and is tuned in a major pentatonic scale.
The guzheng is the ancestor of several other Asian zither instruments, including the Japanese koto, the Korean gayageum, and the Vietnamese đàn tranh.

The guzheng is made from tongmu wood (Paulownia) and bamboo, and is inlaid with thirteen round shells. Its strings were once made of silk.
Guzheng players refer to their notes in solfège. Instead of reading the music as 1 2 3 or C D E, they would refer to their music as do re mi.
