Amanda - Waylon Jennings - Cover

Well folks, lemme tell ya somethin’ — Waylon Jennings didn’t just sing songs, he lived ’em. And “Amanda” is one of the finest he ever wrapped his voice around.
Written by Bob McDill (one of the best damn songwriters Nashville ever saw), “Amanda” first showed up on Waylon’s 1974 album The Ramblin’ Man, but it didn’t get to be a hit ’til they re-released it in 1979 on Greatest Hits.
And man, it exploded. Hit #1 on the country charts, put a little ache in every roughneck’s heart, and made a whole lotta outlaws look real soft for a minute.

This here cover’s my own little tribute — real acoustic, real raw. Just a guitar, a little dust on the trail, and a hell of a lotta heart.
The video’s built like an old graphic novel come to life: 30+ painterly, widescreen images tellin’ the story the way Waylon would’ve wanted it — full of regret, full of beauty, full of real life.
You’ll see Amanda out in the fields, watch her dance alone to a vinyl record, catch a lonesome man wanderin’ railroad tracks at sundown, and a few shots that might just break your heart if you let ‘em.

We kept it cinematic, gritty, and real pretty — ’cause that’s the way these old songs deserve to live.

So pour yourself somethin’ strong, kick back, and let the story roll.

Fun Facts & Trivia:
• Bob McDill originally wrote “Amanda” back in the late ’60s and thought it was too soft for the outlaw scene. Turns out, it was exactly the right kind of soft.
• Waylon cut the song in ’74, but RCA sat on it. It took the outlaw movement blowing wide open before they realized they had gold just sittin’ there.
• The Greatest Hits album where “Amanda” finally hit #1 became one of the best-selling country records of all time.
• In the video, Amanda’s scenes were inspired by real Americana photography from the 1960s and 1970s — old motels, vinyl records, muddy boots, and that sunset-colored kind of loneliness you only find at the end of a two-lane blacktop.
