Classics of Finnish Cuisine: Salmon Soup - Embassy of Finland in Israel

Finnish residence staff prepares salmon soup

Creamy salmon soup is a Finnish classic dish. Finland celebrates National Fish Soup Day on February 12, but fish soup is also eaten during the summer, and for many it is part of their traditional summer menu. This classic of our food culture, fish soup cooked in milk is a food the world hardly comes across somewhere else than in Finland.

In the Finnish national epic Kalevala, salmon was eaten in the morning, at noon and even in the evening. Therefore, salmon soup can be considered a significant food for Finns culturally.
And… it is very tasty, too!
