Cunard's QUEEN MARY 2 (QM2): HURRICANE WINDS FORCE 12 STORMY SEAS | DECKS CLOSED !
Our first time on Queen Mary 2. We were crossing the Atlantic from Southampton to New York. 5 days out of port we hit a Hurricane. Force 12 and there was some motion but amazingly not as bad as you would think. This ship is designed for what ever conditions it might encounter and in November storms are always expected. We had taken precautions against sea sickness with patches and wrist bands and these seemed to remove most of the nausea type symptoms. By the time the storm arrived we had found our sea legs and luckily found the whole experience of the ship moving around quite entertaining. Not sure everyone else onboard felt the same way though ! Understandably the decks were closed but I couldn't resist going outside on the top deck at the front of the ship were they have the 'lookout' which is highly protected from the elements.
