Grete Stern: Her Life, Work, and Influences | Photographers in Focus

In this video, I talk about the life of Grete Stern, a German-born Jewish woman who emigrated to Argentina in the 1930s and spent her life immersed in the photographic arts. She studied at the Bauhaus school of Arts under Walter Peterhans, married fellow Peterhans Student Horacio Coppola, and co-owned a photography studio in Berlin during the Weimar period with her life-long friend Ellen Auerbach.
I'll give a synopsis of her life and the cultural/ political events that impacted it, as well as an analysis of her work as compared to the other photographers in her life and other artworks of the time.
