A few words about Kaleidoscope - it is my 2016-17 solo project on which I played all instruments, mixed and produced it. The whole album is a fusion of minimalism, electronic music, rock, modal jazz, and cinematic video game music. It was written and recored in mainly three creative phases. Out of the eleven tracks that were recorded, I decided to use only eight (see the entire playlist). Should inspiration kick in at some point I will release the remaining three.

Instrumentation:
- Electric guitars
- Acoustic guitar
- MIDI Guitar - Roland GR-300
- Yamaha TD11 drum kit, percussion
- Bass guitar
- Synthesizers, piano, keys
- Trumpet
- Flute

What is a kaleidoscope if not a symbol of symmetry, an eternal struggle between randomness, predictability and improvisation embodied by the flow of colourful patterns with their constant yet gradual shifts in texture and shape? With each revolution new patterns come into their brief existence, some ocasionally similar to previous ones yet never identical. Kaleidoscope as a simple cylindrical toy takes a watcher on a visually captivating adventure, emotionally static yet a colourful spectacle. In comparison, the sound of the album characterizes what otherwise could be visual. Each track aims to reflect both the freedoms and limitations that are found in a kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope as a musical creation is an attempt to establish a new way in instrumental music, perhaps a new genre that I refer to as electric impressionism.

Believe it or not, Kaleidoscope begun as a live project and it is recorded in the same way that it can be performed live in front of an audience. The first track that came into existence “Sparrows: The Great Awakening” is also the first track on the album. It started as a jam session with and electric guitar, electric bass, Yamaha TD11 drums, and a synth controller, all plugged into a mixer that was then routed through a BOSS Loop Station. Each of the eight tracks on the album had its own distinct creative process so it is fair to say that the writing wasn’t formulaic. Also, the balance between precomposed elements and improvisation varies from track to track, however all tracks can be performed live with a loop station or another looping software such as Ableton Live.
