Narrative, the last pillar of emotion | Takanobu Kinjo | TEDxKeioU

Kinjo Takanobu
University of the Ryukyu Hospital, Division of Community Medicine and Internal Medicine, Clinical ethicist (ethics consultant)
Obtaining a master's degree in biomedical-clinical ethics at Loma Linda University and a doctorate in philosophy at Osaka Prefectural University, he works as a clinical ethicist in his hometown Okinawa. In this role, he collaborates with healthcare workers to address complex ethical issues.
His approach to ethical studies involves incorporating narratives focusing on supporting healthcare workers and patients co-authorizing illness narratives together. His goal is to discover ways to enhance the patients' happiness, even when a cure is not possible. He strives for a society where every individual can lead an ""ethically meaningful life"" and offers lectures at various healthcare institutions across Japan to promote this vision. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
