How to trim your dog's nails at home, step by step walk through

I made this video to help my clients and other pet owners to confidently trim their pets nails when they cannot make it in for professional care. Many groomers are unable to work right now because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Find a quiet time and position your pet on the floor, couch or bed. If you have a smaller dog and a second person, a tabletop can be a more ergonomic option. Have handy nail trimmers, styptic powder, cotton balls and your pets favorite training treats. Be firm but gentle with your approach, if you only feel comfortable only trimming the very tips that's a great start! A positive experience is key to gaining both you and your pets confidence. Only do what you and your pet feel, and act comfortably for. If you feel you cannot safely trim your own pets nails it is ok to just keep an eye out for any broken nails or paw injuries until your pet can next see a professional.
