MIRROR'S EDGE CATALYST BETA: Good/bad, Bugs/glitches, Feedback, and Comparisons to ME1

So I played the beta.
Just to be clear, I'm not back to speedrunning and I don't plan to return any time soon. Bye :)
(My notes have been copy/pasted below)...

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a good game, no doubt, but it lacks the purity of the original Mirror's Edge.
NEGATIVES
Momentum isn't even a thing anymore. Boost ("Shift") with a single click while facing forward when you slow down. Not satisfying and fluid. This feature clearly caters to casual players.

Run to wallrun transition is bad. There's no view bob. Faith feels weightless.

No view bob while running, jumping, coil jumping, landing. Faith feels like a floating camera instead of a person bound by physics.

No wallrunning arc. Faith just floats along the wall.

No wallrun kick except when engaged in combat.

KSEC guards in the prologue/prison are comic book "evil".

Intrusive combat circle.

FORCED slow motion when jumping through glass.

The map is too bright. Lacks shadows.

Constantly being told what button to press to interact.

No wallboosting.

Movement feels less grounded. Less precision. Some wallruns don't connect.

Vault timing is noob-friendly. No skill. Not satisfying.

The roll animation looks unrealistic.

Side shift feels weak and unresponsive. Also not really needed due to forward shift.

"Cascadia". Naming the country was not necessary. There is such a thing as fleshing out too much lore in your world.

"powerful" "elder" "cabal". Sounds like an ancient tribal setting.

3rd person takedowns break immersion. Reminds you that you are not Faith. There are other better ways to let the player know combat is over, such as audio cues or graphical effects. They are only to look cool and resemble other mainstream combat games.

Locked abilities. There are better ways to teach the player to coil/roll, such as a memorable tutorial that will stick in the players' minds. A skill tree is a poor design choice that affects the more skilled players.

People who give side missions are standing in random places. High class civilians dressed up in fancy clothes standing on a dirty rooftop with vents spewing steam around them. What.

Those same people are colourless and dull-looking, like the game's lighting isn't illuminating them.

Colourful and vibrant clothing from the first game replaced by black clothing that borrows from the "grittiness" of other games.

Open world is ok, but linear levels are better.
Open world = travel through the same area repetitively to get to different missions.
Linear levels = each level has a unique design with more of a cinematic sense. A better sense of progression through the story than open world. Also better for speedrunning.

Faith's front cover pose is a vanity shot. Looks like Spiderman posing. Compare this to the first game's promo shots and you get a better sense of who Faith is.

Dash/time trial restart fade-in too slow. Also can't move until fade-in has finished.

Dying in a time trial triggers a long load screen, not like the first game where you instantly respawn at the last checkpoint.

No speedometer in time trials.

The redundant shower curtains in the runner lair.

Surface reflections when looking up and down are glitchy.

The train tracks don't have collision (at least where I jumped on them).

You can jump coil and grab a ledge. Not like the first game where you had to carefully determine whether you should coil or not.

Can't turn in the air when coil jumping.

While hanging, EVERYTHING is blurred when looking away from the ledge.

While shimmying, if Faith is blocked by a wall, her hands will continue shimmying, not like the first game where she realistically stops.

While running, if Faith is blocked by a wall, she continues running into it, not like the first game where she realistically stops.

With a wallclimb 180 turn, Faith just floats in the air. Why?
POSITIVES
Graphics. Lighting and reflections are amazing.

Solar Fields.

Footwork animations when pressing attack look highly detailed.

360 spin animation while hanging from a ledge is awesome.

Crawling animation is great.

The awesome leaderboard in Faith's open palm.

The high speed trains have collision and can kill you.
