Kia Spectra Commercial (2009)
This is a commercial for the Kia Spectra, which apparently cost $14,200 when this commercial aired in 2009. The theme of this commercials is comparing the car to the $14,200 Toyota Carolla. Unfortunately, there is no $14,200 Toyota Carolla.
In reality it's just an excuse to list the cars features and an attempt to be funny rather then actually comparing it to a similarly priced car or even a more expensive car.
The features listed:
- Gets 30 miles per gallon (2009 EPA fuel economy estimates 23 mpg/city and 30 mpg/highway with manual transmission model. Actual mileage may vary. Professional driver. Close course).
- 10-year / 1000,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty. (see retailer for limited Powertrain warranty details or go to kia.com).
- Five-Star frontal crash rating (star ratings are part of the US Department or Transportation's Safercar.gov program. Model tested with standard side-impact air bags.)
Also, the price they are advertising is after $3,000 cash back (whatever that means). So the base model shown in this commercial is $14,200. Also, this offer ended on June 1st, 2009.
Kia, formerly known as Kyungsung Precision Industry, is a South Korean multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The Kia Spectra is a compact car produced by Kia Motors between 2000 and 2009, so this was the last year they made it.
This commercial was recorded on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 on The Discovery Channel during a rerun episode of Deadliest Catch.
"The power to surprise."
