Tools , Chapter 10

The Internet is a global network of interconnected computers that communicate using standardized protocols, primarily TCP/IP. It enables the sharing of information and services like websites, email, file transfers, and streaming. Data travels through a complex system of routers, servers, and cables—both underground and undersea—allowing users to access content from anywhere in the world. Each device connected to the Internet has an IP address, helping route data to its destination. The World Wide Web (WWW) is a major service on the Internet, using browsers to display websites via HTTP. The Internet supports communication, commerce, education, entertainment, and innovation, fundamentally transforming how people interact and work. It continues to evolve with technologies like cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G, while raising concerns about privacy, security, and digital access.
