Die Cast vs. Triple Flange Hoops for Toms | Season Four, Episode 5

Ever since our episode comparing various hoops on a snare drum we’ve received requests for this particular experiment. It seems as though many people are deeply entrenched in their preference of specific hoop types. With the help of our friends at Pearl Drums, we set out to compare their MasterCast die cast hoops with their Super Hoop II 2.3mm triple flange hoops on a full set of toms. Correction: Pearl MasterCast die cast hoops are made from a steel/zinc alloy, not aluminum.
