How to Use Slicer Values in Dynamic Excel Report Titles?

Ever wanted to use the selected value from an Excel Slicer or Timeline inside a report title?

In this video, Ken shows a clever way to extract values from a Timeline or Slicer and use them to update a PivotTable report title dynamically. The technique uses a second PivotTable, Report Connections, and simple DAX measures such as LASTDATE and a distinct count of months.

You’ll see how to connect a Timeline to multiple PivotTables, pull out the selected period, and build a formula-driven title like “3 months ended October 31, 2019.” This approach is especially useful for Power Pivot and Data Model-backed PivotTables, but the same idea can also be adapted for regular PivotTables with care.
