Transcript: A common question that we receive from patients when they're starting their journey with testosterone replacement, or TRT as we call it, is when will I feel better? When will my symptoms improve? When will my quality of life improve? That's a very fair question, and the answer is relatively straightforward for most patients. First, we need to look at the symptoms that are involved, and with hypogonadism or low testosterone, there's a certain constellation of symptoms that we typically see. Those symptoms span from the emotional spectrum, things such as depression, anxiety, loss of motivation, drive, ambition. I call that the patient's mojo. They lose their mojo. Sexual side effects, symptoms such as low libido, poor erectile function, and then physical symptoms, loss of strength, loss of stamina, loss of lean body mass, poor recovery from exercise. That's the constellation of symptoms we typically see, and those are the symptoms that patients are looking for improvement in.
Now, as for a timeline for that improvement, we typically tell patients four weeks after they start treatment is the beginning of when they may start seeing some of those symptoms improve. Now, there are always exceptions to that rule. Some patients start feeling benefits sooner, some later, but around four weeks is about the average, and then those symptoms can continue to improve for sometimes up to a year after starting treatment, depending on how quickly the patient is dialed in, as we call it. And by dialed in, what I mean is making adjustments to their regimen, making sure that their hormone levels, including specifically testosterone and estrogen, including other hormones we look at, are balanced in the ranges that we want them to be. Then, once they're balanced and dialed in, typically the effects and the benefits that they receive are ongoing and long-lasting.
