When Shopping Turns Into Sewing Research 😅

Once you start sewing, there are some things you'll start doing (almost without noticing).
Like... You used to go shopping and come home with clothes.
But now... you come home with ideas.

Because when you see something you like, your brain immediately goes:
“Psssh, I could totally make that!”

Then suddenly you’re in the changing room turning the clothes inside out.
Checking the seam finishes, dart placements, hem techniques...
Not to buy it! Oh no! Just to study it. To recreate it.
(And definitely taking photos to reference later.)

You start tracing pattern pieces with your eyes, deconstructing the design in your head, figuring out just how they got that shape, imagining it in your fabric with your tweaks, fitting you exactly!

Shopping is no longer shopping.
It’s research.
It’s inspiration.
It’s a full-on sewing reconnaissance mission.

You didn’t buy anything... but you walked out with three new project ideas and a strong urge to race home and start sewing
(even though your project list is already a mile long).

Do you do this, too? Surely it's not just me?

Have you tried recreating something you saw in the shops?
I’d love to hear how it went, let me know in the comments.
