German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statements have sparked speculation about the delivery of German-made Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Russia says it would treat Ukrainian strikes on transport infrastructure using German Taurus long-range missiles as "direct participation" in the conflict by Berlin. Both the United States and the UK have supplied long-range missiles to Ukraine. However, Taurus missiles have a longer range and can strike targets up to 500 kilometres (310 miles) away.
