Turbo RAT ROD Truck Gets Wild! (Junkyard LS Engine)

John Gray's turbo rat rod truck has been around for years and it just keeps getting quicker and faster. It is powered by a junkyard LS 6.0 engine out of a 3/4-ton Chevy truck. The only modification to the engine is a Brian Tooley Racing camshaft and valve springs, and then a big rig turbocharger that John paid $100 for.

The truck is based off of a late 1940's International, but features a Chevy S10 frame, Mustang II front suspension and a Ford 9-inch rear end. John has made lots of changes to the truck over the years...it has had a Pontiac engine, Cadillac engine, a turbo small block Chevy, and I believe it has had a 4.8, a 5.3 and a 6.0 liter LS engine. All this is backed by a Powerglide transmission. In this video, the truck runs 5.30's during a test session at Brainerd Motorsports Park. The truck has been quicker than these passes, but traction issues kept him from going LOW 5's on this particular night. Buy My Books!
