Informal education | Haily Summerford | TEDxUTA
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Participate in hands-on learning and informal education. Celebrate and recognize the power of the informal education process.
Haily Summerford has a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Cornell College and an MBA from the University of Dallas concentrating in Not-for-Profit Management. Haily is currently the Center Director for the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center at Cedar Hill. She is also Past President of the Texas Association for Environmental Education (TAEE) and has been in the environmental education field for more than 20 years. She has received numerous awards for her programs and efforts including the 2009 Environmental Leadership Award from TAEE.
Haily completed a rigorous climate change training led by former Vice President Al Gore through The Climate Reality Project and has presented on climate change to hundreds of people. Haily volunteered for the organization for five years and served as a District Manager for Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Not only is she dedicated to serving her local community, Haily volunteered for six years during the summer for Cheetah Outreach in South Africa writing and implementing wildlife conservation curriculum including a children’s book. The curriculum has impacted thousands of students and hundreds of educators in the Western Cape.
