By 1969, Dodge’s compact, the Dart, cemented its popularity compared to its competition, the Ford Falcon, which was in its final model year as a compact, and Chevrolet’s Nova, which underwent a name change the year before. This example is a fresh restoration and high performance built 1969 Black Dodge Dart Swinger restomod. This sinister black Mopar is outfitted with a built 360 V8, 4 speed console mounted transmission, upgraded suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, a stiffened chassis, fresh sound system and this Dart sounds absolutely stunning with its dual exhaust and performance headers!

Dressed in correct X9 code black with the red Swinger stripe adorning the rear end, this car’s paint and trim are in overall excellent condition. Its body is straight and solid and has been stiffened with steel gusset plated shock towers, connected frame rails and a driveshaft loop, the engine bay is extremely attractive, the battery appears new and has new chrome bumpers that contrast perfectly with the fresh black paint.

This Dart rolls on BFGoodrich g-force sport radials, size 225/50ZR16 in front and 255/50ZR16 in back. Each tire is mounted on an American Racing Torque Thrust five-spoke alloy wheels. The wheels and tires are all in very good condition.

Under the hood is a 360 CID V-8 rebuilt in 2019, breathing via dual exhausts with performance headers, a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Hi-Lift Camshafts with Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Duration 275/287, Lift .525/.525, Edlebrock 4 barrel carb, Procomp intake, upgraded front and rear sway bars and a Flame Thrower Billet Distributor full ignition system. Married to this motor is a four-speed manual transmission. With the increase in speed, this Dart takes advantage of the benefits of front and rear disc Wilwood brakes (self-adjusting, ease of inspection, better cooling, fade resistance, freedom from pull, and self-cleaning). Driver convenience features includes power steering and four-wheel disc brakes.

Inside, the car’s black interior has been augmented with several new parts. There are newer front bucket seats that look very comfortable. The matching black carpet is in very good order, as is the black headliner and three-spoke aftermarket steering wheel. At the driver’s eye level on the left is an AutoGage tachometer and there are three aftermarket ancillary gauges mounted below the dashboard. The inner door panels and dashboard are in similar condition. There’s a Hurst shifter in the center console and a modern Pioneer AM/FM/USB stereo with CD player in the dashboard and four speakers.

The two-door sedan was dropped at the end of 1968 and replaced with the Swinger two-door hardtop for 1969. Also added was the Swinger 340. The entire 1969 Dart range received trim updates including another minor revision of the grille and a return to rectangular park/turn lights. The 1968 round side marker lights were replaced with rectangular reflectors. Head restraints were optional equipment until January 1, 1969, when their installation became mandatory under federal law.

Mopar fans, if a late well built 60s Dart with performance in mind would add to or complete your collection, you really owe it to yourself to visit to check out this car so stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today!
