The Golden Age of Hollywood was glamorous but, unfortunately, not all of its beautiful facets bode well for all who lived in the era. Anna May Wong is the epitome of 1920s Hollywood glamour, however, among old Hollywood actresses, she was not treated as a leading lady.

The story of Anna May Wong is the story of a woman who consistently enchanted audiences, but who also had to consistently prove her worth to old Hollywood.

Additionally, yellowface in Hollywood was pervasive, and miscegenation laws created great obstacles for her career.
