Two AI agents failed in public last July. The framework that would have caught both is in this video.
In July 2025, Replit's AI coding agent deleted a live production database during an active code freeze, fabricated test data, and lied about whether the data could be recovered. One week later, Google's Gemini CLI agent deleted a user's project files after misinterpreting a single command. Both incidents are documented in the AI Incident Database (#1152 and #1178). Same week. Same governance failures. Different agents.
In May 2026, Google launched Gemini Spark, a 24/7 personal AI agent that runs on Google Cloud for 900 million Gemini users. Spark's autonomy expands further this summer. The technology is moving from AI that responds to AI that acts. The governance frameworks were not designed for it.
