EMOTIONAL FOOTBALL PILGRIMAGE - YNWA Spirit of Shankly

In this video I took my Bill Shankly pin badge to the village at which he was born. Glenbuck in Ayrshire was once a thriving coal mining community which is now abandoned. I myself would've bought the badge at one of the many Liverpool matches I've been to at Anfield.

Bill Shankly was Liverpool Football Club's manager from 1959 - 1974 and is now considered to be the father of the modern club we recognise today. He laid the foundations for Liverpool to go on and become a force in Europe and beyond. Without him, LFC wouldn't have won half the trophies they have.

Glenbuck Heritage Village isn't just famous for Bill Shankly though. All of his brothers were professional footballers. His brother Bob Shankly even managed Dundee FC to a Scottish league title. Many other professional footballers came through the ranks in this wonderful part of Scotland for Glenbuck Cherrypickers FC.
