The rise of Airbnb and other short-stay accommodation options is dividing tourist towns across Australia.

Some people feel it creates healthy competition and boosts visitor numbers, whereas hoteliers want unregistered holiday homes shut down.

In the Western Australian tourist mecca of Margaret River, it's pitted neighbour against neighbour, as Erin Parke reports.
