Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) School of Business, in association with Global Studies & Governance Program and The Rohingya Solidarity Network organized a panel discussion on
“The Rohingya Refugee Crisis: Meeting the Twin Challenges of Humanitarian Support and Repatriation”. Eminent personalities, diplomats, faculties and students attended the event held on 12 June 2019.

A two days long Photo Exhibition by Photo Journalist Fojit Sheikh Babu on Rohingya Issue also took place in Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) associated by IUB School of Business and the Rohingya Solidarity Network. H.E. Mr.Benoit Préfontaine, High Commissioner of Canada in Bangladesh attended as The Chief Guest of the Seminar. Professor Millan Pagan, Vice Chancellor of IUB, Dr. Sadequl Islam, Professor and Chair of Economics, Laurentian University, Canada, Professor Dr. Mohmammad Aminul Karim, Dean of IUB School of Business, Towhid Hossain, Former Foreign Secretary, Professor Dr, Imtiaz A Hossain, Dr. Foyzul Kabir Khan, Former Energy Secretary, Mohammad Abul Kalam (NDC), Additional Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry and others took chair as the Special Guests of the seminar.

Opening remarks were made by Professor Dr. Mohd. Aminul Karim, Dean of School of Business (IUB). This was followed by an address by Prof. Milan Pagon, Vice-Chancellor (IUB). The event was moderated by Dr. Sadequl Islam, Professor & Chair, Department of Economics, Laurentian University, Canada. The panellists presented findings from their visits to Rohingya camps.
This was followed by insights from Touhid Hossain, Former Foreign Secretary, Prof. Dr. Imtiaz A Hussain, Dean of School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (IUB) and Dr. Fouzul Kabir Khan, Former Energy Secretary.

The program highlighted the humanitarian and repatriation challenges in Bangladesh since the influx of Rohingya migrants. Continued efforts to increase awareness on the issue were stressed. The speakers also criticized the silence of the global communities on the Rohingya issue and invited to resolve the Rohingya Problem. They said, The Leading Countries are not taking any action to make peace for the Rohingyas. For that, after passing a long time, this problem has not solved yet. So, this is the right time to awake the world.

They also admired the steps taken by IUB on Rohingya. After the seminar, the opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition was inaugurated and the guests explored the exhibition. In this exhibition, 37 pictures by Fojit Sheikh Babu was showed. Through this exhibition, Fojit Sheikh Babu wanted to aware the global community to solve the Rohingya Issue. Ms. Sabina Yeasmin, Advisor of the Canadian High Commissioner and others were present on the seminar.
