Perms 101- Graduated Spiral Perm Demo on porous hair (loose wave perm) Zotos Acid Body Perm

Hey y'all in this demo I will show y'all how to do the spiral perm wrap. The sprial wrap causes fear in many skilled cosmetologists because of the tedious wrap and the method of wrapping. Spiral wrapping when mastered is fun and easy to do and the results are excellent for long hair as well as a perm that looks natural without any visible splits. The spiral wrap can be graduated by doing several rows of small rods going into larger rods. I did larger arounds around the fringe area to make the perm look more like natural texture. the client can make the curls tighter in the front if she would like. The perm used for this was zotos classic body perm. I could have also used zotos thio free perm because the thio free perms are even more forgiving for hair that has been treated with color or bleached.
The porous hair is best first treated with a protein filler. This fills the "cracks" in the hairs cuticle and ensures that the hair is not further damaged. The the hair needs to be treated with a pre wrap perm spray to further help. With hair that is porous you cannot over protect. Wrap the hair wet and apply. This perm is a self timed perm and it shut it's self off so no test curl is required. Personally I prefer to test curl to see the time it takes. with a spiral perm I prefer to rinse on the rods, but for a looser look you can remove the rods after 5 min of neutralizer processing.
